WAP shelving is not an independent type of shelving, but rather a shuttle shelving system that uses the WAP-1 shuttle car as its core component. Below is a detailed introduction and analysis of its characteristics:

Introduction to WAP Shelving

1. Composition: This system consists of three parts—the shelving unit itself, a mobile cart (i.e., the WAP-1 shuttle car), and a forklift for use with the system. Its operating principle is to use radio remote control to operate the shuttle car along the guide rails within the shelving aisle to complete the automated storage and retrieval of goods.

2. Applicable Scenarios: It is mainly used in industries with large quantities of single products, such as food, chemicals, and tobacco, as well as in cold storage and space-constrained warehouses where high-density storage is required. For example, in cold chain environments, it can reduce the time spent on manual low-temperature operations and improve safety.

Characteristics of WAP Shelving

1. High-Density Storage and Efficient Space Utilization: Space utilization exceeds 80%, far exceeding the 5-6 times of traditional shelving. Through the in-depth design of the shelving structure and the precise positioning of the shuttle car, dense arrangement of pallet goods can be achieved, especially suitable for warehouses with limited height but requiring expansion;

2. Flexible Operation Mode: Supports both "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) and "Last-In, First-Out" (LIFO) storage and retrieval methods to meet the batch management needs of different industries. For example, the first-in, first-out method can be used in the food industry, which is sensitive to shelf life, to ensure inventory turnover efficiency;

3. Automated and Intelligent Integration: The WAP-1 shuttle car is equipped with a lithium battery pack, with a battery life of more than 8 hours, and an unloaded speed of 0.7–0.9 meters/second. It can be remotely controlled via a remote control. In addition, it can be connected to the WMS/WCS system to upgrade to a fully automated warehousing solution, reducing manual intervention and lowering error rates;

4. Enhanced Safety Design: Reduces the frequency of forklifts directly entering the shelving area, avoiding collision risks; at the same time, it has lower lighting requirements, further reducing potential safety hazards;

5. Multi-Aisle Shared Equipment Optimizes Costs: Multiple aisles can share one shuttle car, the number of which is dynamically configured based on factors such as aisle depth and total amount of goods, significantly reducing equipment investment and maintenance costs;

6. Strong Adaptability to Special Environments: It performs exceptionally well in extreme temperature conditions such as cold storage, ensuring equipment stability while shortening the time operators are exposed to low temperatures, improving operational comfort and safety.

WAP Shelving ( Shuttle Shelving System ) has achieved a double breakthrough in warehousing efficiency and space utilization through technological innovation, and is an important solution for the transformation of the modern logistics industry towards automation and intelligence.
