1. Site selection and planning come first
A rational warehouse location is fundamental. Areas with higher elevation and good drainage should be selected for constructing or renovating storage facilities dedicated to flood-control supplies. Ideally, the ground level of the warehouse should be significantly higher than surrounding roads and any areas prone to water accumulation. If conditions permit, the warehouse could even be built on natural elevations like small hills, effectively minimizing the risk of flooding from the outset. A waterproof coating is applied to the surface of the concrete piers to prevent groundwater from seeping in and causing corrosion. Additionally, specially designed waterproof foot covers are fitted at the points where the shelf legs come into contact with the floor, effectively blocking moisture from rising upward. Moreover, the spacing between shelves should be appropriately widened, ensuring ample passageways for personnel to inspect and maintain drainage systems, while also promoting air circulation—thus helping to minimize issues like mold growth caused by humidity.

When selecting shelf materials, preference is given to corrosion-resistant options such as stainless steel to extend their lifespan. Special moisture-proof treatments are applied to the shelf boards, such as spraying sealants or laying down moisture-resistant mats. During product placement, the "heavy below, light above" principle is followed—denser, more durable items are placed on the lower levels, while lighter, moisture-sensitive goods are stored on the upper shelves. Additionally, auxiliary equipment like dehumidifiers and desiccant packs can be installed to continuously absorb moisture from the air, ensuring a consistently dry environment around the shelves.
4. Establishment of a Monitoring and Early Warning Mechanism
Install water level monitoring sensors and leak detection devices to continuously track water level changes within the warehouse. Once an abnormal increase is detected or a leakage point is identified, immediately activate the alarm system to notify management for prompt action. Regularly conduct drills to ensure staff are familiar with emergency procedures, such as moving sandbags to block entrances and using submersible pumps to drain water, thereby enhancing their ability to respond effectively to sudden flood events.
